Pond Fountains: Garden, Floating, Solar And Water Fountains

Now that the winter and spring frosts have passed and spring flowers have sprung to life, more and more people and businesses are turning on their defunct-for-winter pond fountains. Pond fountains are a seasonal way to spice up a yard, or even add pizazz and life to a small space.

Pond water fountains can be a simple garden pond fountain, an elaborate solar powered fountain, or a floating fountain. They can also fit in small and large spaces. Smaller fountains for ponds can utilize spitters, which are usually made of concrete and fashioned into an animal, cherub, or other figurine. Pond water fountains are also available as drippers fashioned of copper. Similar to a spitter, drippers are also molded into some sort of whimsical figurine. A smaller garden fountain can be equated with a smaller price tag; pond fountains that are spitters or drippers only cost between $25 - $45.

Larger pond fountains can be tiered for a flowing effect, or have a bubbler above the water to provide movement. They can even have features that dance to music or perform a show. The kits for pond water fountains with themed effects run between $90 and $500, proving that pond fountains can look great whether on a budget or with big bucks to drop.

Other features of pond fountains are a solar powered fountain or a floating fountain. A solar powered pond fountain does not require electrical wiring because it receives its energy from the sun. The pond water fountains that are solar powered are fashioned inside with an LED light that holds light energy from the sun, and stays lit for long period of time.

Solar powered pond water fountains can use submersible lighting, lanterns or spot lighting. The kit costs around $40, and the lighting is $10 per light. Lanterns are $20 for a 2 pack, and spot lights are between $200 and $800.

Floating fountains are generally used in larger ponds or as a residential pond fountain to create quirky yet eye-catching displays. A floating fountain is one that appears to be floating in the middle of a pond or lake, while creating a fascinating form of entertainment by alternating its spray patterns, sometimes including a light show to further enhance its beauty. A floating fountain uses jets to create its fanciful streams, and can have different water displays or shoot toweringly up to 70 feet high.

Because of their more elaborate nature and the added components required when initially purchased, such as the light kit, the fountain, and a filter, a floating fountain is much more expensive than other decorative pond fountains. Pond fountains with a floating fountain feature start at $550, and can easily increase to over $2,000.

Pond fountains are soothing add-ins and can be an arresting conversation piece. Pond fountains are available to people with any disposable budget, and can fit in any space, which makes them an economical choice that is also easy to maintain. To spruce up a small space conspicuously or to create an arresting water display in the yard, pond fountains are a great way to go.
